Taxi with baby seat Melbourne

Family travel, without the car-seat juggle

Lugging your own capsule to the airport at 4am, or hoping a rideshare turns up with a seat that actually fits, is the last thing a parent needs. Quick Maxi Cab takes that off your plate: tell us your child’s age when you book and we’ll fit an approved capsule, baby seat or booster to your cab and check every buckle and strap before we move.

In Victoria, it’s the parent or carer — not the taxi — who’s responsible for the correct child restraint, so we make it easy to do it right, with seats that meet the Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 1754 and a driver who installs and checks them properly.

It works in any of our vehicles, from a sedan for one family to an 11-seat maxi for the whole crew, and it’s perfect for airport runs, hospital trips home with a newborn, or a simple day out — one fixed, all-inclusive fare, 24 hours a day.

Which seat, which age

Victoria’s child restraint rules, made simple

A quick guide to what your child needs by law. Not sure? Tell us their age and we’ll sort it.

Child restraint required by age in Victoria, and the seat we fit for each
AgeRestraint requiredWhat we fit
Birth – 6 months Rear-facing restraint Rear-facing capsule
6 months – 4 years Rear- or forward-facing with harness Forward-facing seat
4 – 7 years Forward-facing harness seat or booster Booster with lap-sash belt
7+ years Adult belt if tall enough, or booster Booster on request

Under-7s must use an approved restraint and can’t sit in the front seat if a back seat is available. Ages are a guide — the right restraint also depends on your child’s size. General guidance only, based on Victorian road rules.

Why Quick Maxi Cab

The maxi cab Melbourne actually recommends

We’ve built our name on being on time, upfront about price, and easy to deal with — the things riders tell us other operators get wrong.

Safety done properly

Approved AS/NZS 1754 seats, fitted by the driver and checked — every buckle, every strap — before we move off.

Clean seats, clean cabs

Seats are wiped down between trips and the vehicles are late-model and cleaned — the cab you’d happily put your own kids in.

One all-inclusive fare

No surge, no booking fee, tolls included. Any small seat charge is told to you up front — never a surprise.

0413

one call, seat sorted

Tell us the ages once and we’ll have the right capsule, seat or booster fitted and waiting — no lugging your own to the airport.

Safety you can see

Seats you can trust, fitted right

With children on board, “she’ll be right” isn’t good enough. Here’s how we make sure it is.

  • Approved & standard-compliant

Every capsule, seat and booster meets Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 1754 — the same standard required for your own car.

  • Fitted & double-checked

Your driver installs the seat and checks the anchor point, buckle and harness before the trip starts — not left for you to work out.

  • Accredited, careful drivers

Experienced local drivers, insured under Victorian CPV rules, who know that a cab with kids on board calls for extra care.

Baby seat FAQs

Travelling with children — your questions answered

Call 0413 232 882 — a real person answers, any hour.

Do you provide the baby seat, or do I bring my own?
We provide it. Just tell us your child's age when you book and we'll fit an approved capsule, baby seat or booster and check it before the trip. You're welcome to bring and use your own if you'd prefer — the driver can help fit it.
Are the seats certified and safe?
Yes. Every seat meets Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 1754 — the same standard required for a private car — and is cleaned between trips. Your driver installs it and checks the anchor point, buckle and harness before you set off.
Which seat does my child need?
As a guide: a rear-facing capsule from birth to about 6 months, a forward-facing harness seat from about 6 months to 4 years, and a booster from about 4 to 7 years. The right choice also depends on your child's size — tell us their age and we'll fit the correct one.
Can you fit more than one child seat?
Yes. We can set a vehicle up with several seats — two capsules, a seat and a booster together, whatever your family needs. A maxi cab has plenty of room for multiple seats plus the adults and the bags.
Can I book a baby-seat taxi for an airport run or early flight?
Absolutely — airport transfers are one of our most popular baby-seat bookings. Pre-book your pickup time and we'll have the right seat fitted and the driver waiting, whatever the hour.
Is a taxi legally required to carry a child restraint?
In Victoria the taxi isn't required to carry one, and it's the parent or carer who's responsible for making sure a child travels in the correct restraint. That's exactly why we provide and fit approved seats — so you can do the right thing without the hassle.
Does the baby seat cost extra?
Any small charge for the seat is told to you up front when you book — never a surprise on arrival. You still get one fixed, all-inclusive fare with no surge.
