What you’ll actually pay

The calculator is not a teaser. When it returns a fixed fare, that is the number on the day — we turn it into one all-inclusive price that does not move.

Fixed at booking

We confirm one all-inclusive fare before your trip. A meter never decides your price.

No surge, ever

The fare does not rise for peak hour, rain, late nights or public holidays.

Tolls, parking & GST included

Everything is in the one number — nothing is tacked on at the end of the trip.

The airport is a flat fee

Melbourne CBD to Melbourne Airport is a flat $90 by maxi taxi or $78 by SUV, rather than a per-kilometre estimate.

What changes your fare

  • Distance — the main factor: how far it is from pickup to drop-off.
  • How long it takes — time on the road counts as well as distance, which is why a peak-hour run can price differently from the same trip at 11am.
  • Vehicle size — a maxi seating up to 11 costs a little more than a sedan or SUV.
  • When you travel — daytime, overnight and late-night weekend trips sit on different published rate bands. You see which one applies before you book.
  • Extras — baby seats, extra stops or a long wait. Tell us up front and they are inside the fixed price.

Wheelchair-accessible trips are never charged the larger-vehicle fee.

Melbourne taxi fares — your questions answered

Call 0413 232 882 — a real person answers, any hour.

How much is a taxi to Melbourne Airport?
A fixed $90 from the CBD in a maxi taxi, or $78 in an SUV — all-inclusive of tolls and airport parking, with no peak-hour surge. From other suburbs, put your addresses into the calculator above or call us for a fixed quote.
How is my maxi taxi fare worked out?
Around town it comes down to the distance, how long the trip takes and the size of vehicle you need. Airport runs between the CBD and Melbourne Airport are a flat fee instead. Either way you see one number before you book.
Is the calculator amount the exact price I pay?
Yes — when the calculator returns a fixed fare, that is the price, and it does not change on the day for traffic, weather or the hour. If a trip needs a human to price it, we say so rather than showing you a number we cannot stand behind.
Do you charge extra for tolls, luggage or waiting?
No. Tolls, airport parking, GST and reasonable waiting time are all inside the one fare. Baby seats and wheelchair access are included too — just tell us when you book so the right vehicle turns up.
Is there any surge pricing?
Never. The fare does not rise for peak hour, late nights, rain or public holidays. Late-night and public-holiday trips are priced on the published regulated rate bands, which you see before you book — not multiplied afterwards.
How can I pay?
Pay online when you book with Apple Pay, Google Pay or any Visa, Mastercard or American Express card — your fare is then settled before you travel. Prefer to pay on the day? Choose Cabcharge Fastcard or simply pay your driver at the end of the trip.

Not sure which vehicle you need?

Tell us the group size and the luggage and we'll pick the right maxi cab.
